Rinamokshadevi
The story of how Rinamokshadevi, who grants freedom from debt, came to be established in the Kalyala kingdom of Khasan.
Rinamokshadevi
In the Kalyala kingdom of Khasan, a tremendously learned astrologer named Bhagirath daily worshipped his family deity, who was called 'Rinamokshadevi', the goddess who grants freedom from debt and sin.
On the charge of disobeying the king's order and worshipping only his family deity, Bhagirath was imprisoned. But when the royal astrologer failed to calculate an auspicious moment for the princess's marriage, Bhagirath, by his tantric and astrological knowledge, hurled a black pot into the sky and proved the true conjunction of the new-moon and full-moon days.
The king, impressed, released Bhagirath and made him the chief royal astrologer.
Later, when a shepherd searched for two lost lambs, he beheld the goddess in the middle of a pond and saw the two lambs multiply into four. As the goddess commanded, Bhagirath built a magnificent temple in the middle of that very pond and established 'Rinamokshadevi', where it is believed that worship grants freedom from all debt and sin.
