This page lists the kinds of cookies and browser storage that Nepal Jyotish uses, what each category is for, and how you can control them. It is grouped by category rather than by individual cookie name, because the analytics and advertising cookies are managed by the providers named below.

What cookies and browser storage are

A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to store. Browser storage — local storage, session storage and IndexedDB — works in a similar way, but keeps the data inside your browser rather than sending it with every request.

Nepal Jyotish uses both, for three reasons: to keep the site working, to remember the choices you make, and to measure and fund the service through analytics and advertising.

About the analytics and advertising cookies

The analytics and advertising cookies are set by the providers named above, not by us. Their exact names, how long they last, and the way they combine information across sites are decided by those providers, and are described in their own policies. Those policies are the authoritative source.

To read them, see Google for Analytics and AdSense, and Microsoft for Clarity. Our Privacy Policy lists every third-party service that is active on the site.

What we store in your own browser

We also keep a small amount of information in your browser ourselves, so the site works the way you expect:

  • The language you chose, so the site opens in it next time.
  • Your sign-in session, so you stay signed in between visits.
  • Any birth profiles you have saved, so they can be shown quickly.
  • Cached calculation results, so pages you have already opened load faster.
  • Small interface preferences, such as whether a sidebar is collapsed.

None of this is shared with anyone else. Clearing your browser data removes all of it, and signing out of the site clears your session.

How to control cookies and storage

  • Your browser settings let you block cookies, delete cookies, and clear site data. Every major browser offers this, usually under a “Privacy” or “Cookies and site data” heading.
  • Private or incognito browsing discards cookies and browser storage when you close the window.
  • Personalised advertising can be turned off in your Google Ads Settings.
  • Google Analytics can be disabled with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
  • Microsoft Clarity offers its own opt-out, described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • On a phone or tablet, the device settings usually include an option to limit ad tracking across apps and browsers.

Do Not Track

Browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal with each request. There is still no agreed standard for how a website should respond to it, and Nepal Jyotish does not currently respond to it. The controls listed above are the reliable way to limit cookies and tracking.
